根据ISU提供的信息，赵子荃将在2月28日参将有36名选手竞争的女单资格赛。前12名选手将获得正赛的机会。

关于资格赛参赛规定，ISU的解释是这样的：

The entry quota system comprises two types of entries; Direct entries and Preliminary Round entries.  The total quota for each country is determined by a points system which is calculated on the basis of the results obtained by the country in the previous year‘s competition. This total quota comprises a number of Direct entries – skaters who qualify automatically- and entries decided on a basis of a Preliminary Round.

World and Junior World Championships:

The top 12 Men and Ladies, the top 8 Pair Skating couples and the top 10 Ice Dance couples, from the Preliminary Round are qualified to compete in the Short Program/Short Dance with the skaters entered through the Direct entries.

In total 30 Men and Ladies (18 Direct entries and 12 Preliminary Round entries), 20 Pair Skating couples (12 Direct entries and 8 Preliminary Round entries) and 25 Ice Dance couples (15 Direct entries and 10 Preliminary Round entries) compete in the first segment.  

Competitors placed in the top 24 in Single Skating, the top 16 Pair Skating couples and the top 20 Ice Dance couples in the Short Program/Short Dance qualify for Free Skating/Free Dance.

（个人理解）2011年世青赛，中国在双人和女单项目上都是只有1人（组）参赛。他们虽然为中国赢得了2012年世青赛双人3个，女单2个参赛席位，但是根据ISU的积分系统，在2012年世青赛这两个项目上中国只能各有1个直接入围正赛的资格，其余选手将要参加资格赛。此外也和2011年世青赛的比赛名次又应该有关联，2011年世青赛男单比赛，闫涵和刘佳星都进入了前18名，因此中国男单的两个名额都在男单18个正选赛名额之内。冰舞项目由于张伊伊/吴楠未能晋级自由舞，且排名低于15，所以也要参加资格赛。

双人资格赛结束，Y/J大抽，两个单跳全部失误，但是依然排名榜首进入正赛。李美仪蒋博资格赛也出现单跳失误，最终排名第三进入正赛， 以下是双人资格赛赛况：
