Jewel的第一张专辑是《Pieces of You》，问世于1995年。这首 "Hands" 则收录自Jewel以“简约民谣主义”为精神发行的第二张专辑《Spirit》。1998年12月，Jewel在梵蒂冈第六届Natale In Vaticano音乐会中为教宗若望保禄二世演唱。在这场音乐会中，Jewel在百人交响乐团以及四十人的合唱团陪伴下，演唱"Hands"（关表演选用有可能出自这个现场版）。它的主题 “In the end only kindness matters（最终只有仁慈最重要）”是Jewel多年的口头语。
