Gold medal-winning Olympic figure skater Jamie Sale has married former Edmonton Oiler Craig Simpson.

Sale tweeted late Tuesday night from her Twitter account @JamieSale, “YES...I am a married woman!!! Luckiest girl in the world tonight! Married my best friend, Craig.”

Sale was previously married to her skating partner David Pelletier. The Edmonton pair, who won gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, had a son together in 2007 and divorced in 2010.

Sale, 35, and Simpson, 45, competed as a figure skating duo on the CBC’s Battle of the Blades in 2009 and won.

Simpson separated from his longtime wife, Christine, in March, 2010. The couple divorced May, 2012.

He has three teenaged children including 19-year-old Dillon, who the Oilers drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Simpson won two Stanley Cups with the Oilers and scored a career-high 56 goals in the 1987-88 season.

Sale, who could not be reached for comment, continued to tweet about the marriage Wednesday. “Unreal! It was magical and so perfect!” she tweeted, as well as, “We feel blessed/fortunate everyday to share our love.”

Figure skater Jamie Sale marries former Oiler Craig Simpson

EDMONTON -  Olympic gold-medal figure skater Jamie Sale has married her “best friend,” former Edmonton Oiler Craig Simpson.

“YES ... I am a married woman!!! Luckiest girl in the world tonight! Married my best friend, Craig!” she announced on her Twitter feed on Wednesday.
Sale, 35, was Simpson’s partner on the CBC show Battle of the Blades in 2009. They won that season.

She was formerly married to her skating partner, David Pelletier, but they divorced in 2010. Sale and Pelletier won a gold medal in pairs figure skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where a judging scandal led to reforms at future Games.

The pair was catapulted to international fame.

Their son Jesse was born in 2007.

“Although no longer life partners, they remain mutually committed to raising their son,” states the former couple’s website.

Simpson, 45, was also married before and currently co-hosts Hockey Night in Canada. He played for the Oilers from 1987-1993 and won two Stanley Cups with the team in 1988 and 1990.

EDMONTON - Edmonton’s very own skating super couple will be shopping for a pair of newborn skates.
Figure skater Jamie Sale and former Edmonton Oilers hockey player Craig Simpson welcomed their first child Sunday night.
In a tweet, Sale wrote, “Samantha Rae Simpson arrived today at 7:58 p.m. at 8lbs. 10oz. Mom and Sam are feeling great. Exciting day.”
She also tweeted a pic.
The two married last June after they met in 2009 while competing in CBC’s Battle of the Blades; which they also won.
Sale gained fame in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, when her and her skating partner (and then husband) David Pelletier were awarded a gold medal after a highly publicized judging scandal.
Pelletier and Sale had one child, Jesse, in 2007 and then later divorced.
This will be the fourth child for Simpson who has three children from a previous marriage.
Simpson won two Stanley Cups in 1988 and 1990 in his tenure with the Oilers.
On her way home from the hospital, Sale tweeted, “On our way home now....super happy and healthy! Lol do these babies come with manuals.”
