Nobody should be ashamed of anything. Being gay, being black, being jewish, being fat or thin is nothing to be ashamed of. If you're you and truthfully you, then you only have things to be proud of.

Evan Lysacek calls me Swan and I laugh every time. I call him Mongoose.

Everyone thought my family was crazy for following MY dreams, but I was able to prove to them all that it was worth it.

I don't judge peoples clothes too often, mainly because I wear dead animals. People have their own taste and style and it's not my job to judge them.

Fashion is self expression, so you can be a country kid wearing overalls, a punk with some spiked necklaces or a murderer who wears fur, or so I've been told.

I don't think there should be one role model for all kids.I want to be a role model for kids who feel different and stifled, kids who feel like they can't say they want.

"Instead of competing going for scores, we're performing for applause," said Weir, who admitted he was terrified in Torino, his first Olympics. "We're skating more for the audience than the judges."

Once, when asked by Sports Illustrated what makes a Johnny Weir fan, he replied: "People who don't like me are very stodgy and set in their ways and very red-state-ish. Most of my fans are more of a blue-state crowd and may have little eccentricities."

"Olympics were of course a huge disappointment, but they don't define me. Nor does my love of things Russian," Weir said. "The death threats and critics don't mean anything. It's people with too much time on their hands."

"My love of all things Russian isn't something I'm ashamed of. I believe all Americans should be appreciative of other nations and cultures. All nations helped form my country."

Even when he goes to the supermarket, he says, he buys more yogurt than he needs, "just in case it goes away."
